Zen it Up for the New Year

Yogi followers of Laurie Kasperbauer, Megan Wood, Debby Amicucci of Marco Island Yoga and Julia Szilogyi of Revival Yoga Fitness Studio came together on December 15th at South Beach to raise money for the victims of the November 2nd tragic shooting at the Hot Yoga Studio in Tallahassee. In addition, members of the healing community such as Monarch Wellness from East Naples, Lotus Living Therapy of Naples, and Life Home Health Services were at the beach with information on their therapeutic services.

The practice of Yoga is about healing. Many people attend yoga sessions because they need to heal in some way. During this Saturday session, about 50-plus yogis and yoginis came together to stand in solidarity with everyone affected by the tragedy in Tallahassee and to work towards the healing process. According to Laurie Kasperbauer, over $1,000 was raised and will be matched by their corporate sponsor, Venture Construction Group of Florida.

The holiday season can be very stressful, triggering a spike in our stress levels. The Saturday morning beach yoga session is about taking a pause; it is about turning off the cell phones, grabbing your yoga mat and heading out to the beach to restore order and balance. It is about finding Zen within.

Feel free to join Marco Island Yoga with Laurie, Megan and Debbie at South Beach on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays at 5:30 PM; Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 8:30 AM.
