Who is the better driver?

Who is the better driver?  Parent vs. student?  An alumni driving course challenge will be held
Saturday, Dec. 15  at the Barron Collier High School, 5600 Cougar Drive, North Naples

TIME: 9 a.m. to noon
SUMMARY: Who’s the better driver?

That’s the question facing student graduates of the Collier County Sheriff’s Office’s Teen Driver Challenge and their parents at the inaugural course picnic Dec. 15.

Teen Driver Challenge graduates and their parents will put their skills to the test on several driving courses. Winners will receive a certificate. All the participants will get a free picnic lunch.

The Teen Driver Challenge began in June 2009 and continues to grow in popularity.

Spots are available for the upcoming January course and applications are still being accepted.

This course provides participants with the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to reduce the chance of being involved in a traffic crash. The driving skills taught are the same techniques used by driving professionals, including NASCAR.

Teen drivers will be behind the wheel of their own vehicle. Instructors are certified law enforcement trainers.

At the end of the class participants will receive a certificate of completion. Certificates can be presented to auto insurance companies for a possible premium reduction.

Participants must already have a driver’s license.

To sign up for the January course, contact the CCSO Youth Relations Bureau at 239.793.9260.
