At a recent Kiwanis Club of Marco Island meeting, the Lt. Governor for Division 11 of Kiwanis International congratulated Wayne Mead for Mead’s many years of service. He has contributed to the Kiwanis Club of Marco Island in many ways. One such way was by heading the Membership Committee in past years. When Wayne joined the Kiwanis Club in Iowa as a young man, the cost of membership was $1,000. They were just a small group in a small area. Membership to the Kiwanis Club of Marco Island is only $100. The Marco Island club provides scholarships for children’s programs and young adults heading off to college. They donate funds to the Pediatric Department Naples Community Health Center on the Island, sports and band clubs in our local schools and other children’s programs. Important programs for the children of the area such as, Priority One for children under the age of 5, RIF, Terrific Kids, Toys for Kids are also provided by the Kiwanis Club of Marco Island.
To learn more about how you can join Kiwanis and help the children of our area, plan to attend a breakfast meeting at Porky’s Last Stand, Bald Eagle Drive, on Thursday mornings at 7:30 AM.
