Traffic Alerts

Traffic will be diverted and delayed due to road work on Marco Island.

Traffic will be diverted and delayed due to road work on Marco Island.

On Monday, October 18th, starting at 7 PM, one lane of the existing Jolley bridge travel lanes will be closed to allow for the delivery of the first of numerous bridge deck beams.  FDOT will require that flagmen and lights be used to direct traffic during this operation.  You will also notice that at times for a short period of time all traffic will be stopped for safety reasons.  Message boards will be installed 7 days prior to the event informing the public as required by the traffic control plans.

Also, beginning Monday October 18, the City sewer contractor will AGAIN begin sewer work on San Marco Rd (westbound) between GULFPORT CT and GULFSTREAM ST. This work includes milling of the pavement, followed by sewer construction on the westbound side. This work will require a day-time temporary one lane traffic condition on San Marco between Gulfport Ct and Gulfstream from 7PM & 7PM. The contractor intends to have flaggers control the 1-lane traffic around the construction equipment during daytime hours. We expect this work to last at least two weeks (until October 29).

Resident access to their homes/streets will be maintained.

The contractor will reopen San Marco for two-way traffic each evening when conditions are safe. The contractor does not plan to operate the 1-lane closure over the weekends at this time.

Message Boards are posted to help slow down and guide traffic through the construction area.

Beginning Monday 10/18 we will be temporarily posting the construction area at 20 MPH 24 hours/ day due to expected rough road conditions.

Call Jim Miller at 389-5000 if you have any questions.
