Time to Stop the Foolishness…

The world today is a very dangerous place and we must accept the fact that there are people out there who hate us; who would kill us in an instant given the opportunity, and who want our civilization destroyed and our belief systems altered for good.

We will not be able to defend ourselves or defeat those who want to harm us unless we recognize and identify them for who they are, and not who we hope they are.

We can’t look around, see what is happening and be in denial. The events that shock us day after day are real, and they are not always what we wish they were. We can’t continue to live in a world of fake reality and continue our wishful thinking in measured naiveté, believing “All is well.”

I wish we could solve all the problems of the world by just waving a magic wand, making happy faces, putting out false narratives or by living in a make-believe environment. May I remind you we are not living in la-la land; we are in Marco Island – a very close second by any measure.

I wish we had the ability to change events before they happen.

The issues that surround us are very complex. Some of these issues may be unresolvable and will be with us for a long time. Some may not be resolved in our lifetimes.

Despite what some may believe, we can’t wish our problems away by renaming them, denying their existence or hoping that they go away on their own.

I think deeply about these issues. They bother me a lot, maybe a lot more than they should. Maybe I should just stop hearing, seeing and feeling. I discuss these issues with my friends. I try to come up with answers or solutions, and just as I see a glimmer of hope, a small flickering light at the end of the long dark tunnel, something else happens and nothing gets resolved, and I have to go back to square one.

In other words, I get nowhere. In the words of my wife, “I just make myself crazy!” But I don’t stop and give up. It seems like my resolve gets stronger with every incident, every bomb, every shooting. It must be in my DNA and I can’t change it. And maybe, I don’t want to change it.

My eternal optimism and hope for peace around the world, and my daily disappointment, reminds me of an old joke which many of you may have heard in different variations:

A female CNN journalist heard about a very old Jewish man who had been going to the Western Wall (also known as the Wailing Wall) to pray, twice a day, every day, for a long, long time. So she went to check it out. She went to the Western Wall and there he was, walking slowly up to the holy site.

She watched him pray, and after about 45 minutes, when he turned to leave, using a cane and moving very slowly, she approached him for an interview.

“Pardon me, sir. I’m Rebecca Smith from CNN. What’s your name?”

“Morris Feinberg,” he replied.

“Sir, how long have you been coming to the Wailing Wall and praying?”

“For about 60 years.”

“60 years! That’s amazing! What do you pray for?”

“I pray for peace between the Christians, Jews and the Muslims. I pray for all the wars and all the hatred to stop. I pray for all our children to grow up safely as responsible adults, and to love their fellow man.”

“How do you feel after doing this for 60 years?”

“How do I feel?” said Morris Feinberg, “like I’m talking to a damn wall.”

That kind of sums it all up for me. Yes, everything changes, but nothing really changes. Just like Morris Feinberg stood in front of the Wailing Wall praying for 60 years with no results, I sit in my lanai almost every Friday night, staring up into the sky, trying to make sense of everything that is happening around us.

Let me be blunt and start by telling it like it is. As I see it, there are three main issues common to most problems we are facing today:

  • Illegal immigration.
  • Nuclear treaty with Iran and its effects in the Middle East.
  • Lack of leadership in America and around the world.

I will give various examples and let the reader connect the dots. Before we go any further or do anything else, we must all drop whatever ideology or political party philosophy affects our thinking and start thinking like Americans. Our country is more important to us than anything else.

Illegal Immigration

I am an immigrant – a legal, first generation, proud American. I came here legally as a student, got married and became a citizen on November 17, 1978. I have been reasonably successful in our country only because I did not try and impose my own beliefs on my fellow Americans. I did not request, nor did I receive, any special treatment. I did not want my friends and neighbors to live their lives my way.

I looked around, learned how an average American lives and modeled my life to fit the society I lived in. In other words, I assimilated into this system. There is nothing to be ashamed of for assimilating, as I never forgot my roots, lost my accent or my Turkish culture, which is my heritage.

I became a U.S. citizen, not because I was given a neat blue passport, but because I truly believed in this system. Being a good citizen, volunteering for a number of causes and believing in the value of hard work, receiving no handouts.

Before I came here, I was totally vetted, my family was interviewed, and my neighbors and close friends were questioned before I was given a visa to come over as a student.

Today, around the country we are discussing whether we should let 10,000 Syrian refugees (a majority of whom are young Muslim men of military age) into America, as quickly as possible, as refugees. When we resist and point out that there may be Islamic State sympathizers or agents or other terrorists mixed in with the crowd, we are given a sob story and reminded that this is a country of immigrants.

The immigrants who came to this country over the years and were welcomed with open arms came here with proper documentation. These true immigrants from Europe and other destinations were coming here to build America and not to destroy it. They wanted to live in peace and freedom. They built America to her greatness and became proud citizens.

The latest events in France, Germany and Turkey are proof that those of us who argue against bringing 10,000 strangers, without proper background checks and vetting, into our country are right.

Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel allowed 1.1 million refugees from the Middle East without any proper background checks or vetting into Germany. They walked in with their belongings and disappeared into the crowds. Mrs. Merkel’s heart may have been in the right place, but reality was somewhere else. It was entirely possible that amongst the so-called refugees (I call them invaders in this instance) were scores of possible Islamic terrorists, ISIS sympathizers and even ISIS fighters who are full of hatred for the Western civilization, Christianity, Judaism and anything different from their own beliefs. They strive to behead all who don’t think like them, blow themselves up in crowded areas to kill as many people as possible, and make the rest of us uneasy and uncomfortable. And they do what they do in the name of their religion, Islam.

In Paris, France they killed hundreds of innocent people attending a rock concert. Later, it was found that these killers walked in through the open borders of France as refugees.

On New Year’s Eve in Cologne and Munich, and at least eight other major cities, hordes of asylum seekers attacked Western women and sexually abused them. The German government tried to hide the truth. But when videos were released, confessions were obtained, and the truth came out. Mrs. Merkel and her government were embarrassed, and a number of European countries barricaded and closed their borders as a result of these attacks. The total number of women reporting sexual abuse on New Year’s Eve in Cologne and Munich alone surpassed 1,000. There were other similar incidences in Sweden and Denmark.

And just a few days ago, an ISIS terrorist blew himself up in Istanbul, within 150 yards or so of one of the world’s most beautiful mosques, and a few hundred yards away from the Church of St. Sophia, a historical treasure. He was careful to place himself in a group of German and Danish tourists, thus hurting Turkish tourism for many, many months to come. Maybe years to come.

Turkish officials said that the Islamic State suicide bomber who killed ten German tourists in the heart of Istanbul registered there as a Syrian refugee without setting off security alerts—even though his brother had blown himself up in Syria. The revelation highlighted concerns that extremists are using the migrant crisis to cross borders and carry out terrorist attacks.

We must come to grips with the reality that Al-Qaida is not dead; The Islamic State is not JV; Climate change is not the greatest threat to humanity; and political correctness is indeed a disease, which will eventually kill all of us. We must stop all this nonsense and we must stop it now!

Denying the truth does not change reality. It just makes it impossible to define the danger, and that makes us more and more vulnerable every day. Describing the events and the perpetrators using euphemisms will not change who they are and what they do. An old Turkish saying tells us: Even if you put a golden saddle and a golden

harness on a donkey, a donkey is still a donkey!

What has been happening in the Middle East for the last few years, what happened in Europe just a few weeks ago, happened in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. just weeks ago. On January 7th in Philadelphia, 30-year-old Edward Archer, who declared himself a Muslim and who attends his mosque daily, was caught in surveillance footage ambushing a Philadelphia police officer in a squad car, shooting him multiple times. The suspect’s gun, a nine millimeter Glock 17, had been stolen from police in 2013, according to Commissioner Richard Ross. The suspect told homicide investigators that he “pledges his allegiance to the Islamic State, he follows the orders of Allah” and that is the reason he was called upon to do this. He further told police his attack was inspired by the police upholding laws that are contrary to the teachings of the Sharia law.

What happened next was short of amazing! Immediately after his new police chief announced publicly that the perpetrator had confessed to doing this in the name of Allah, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney held a press conference and said the following: “In no way, shape or form does anyone in this room believe that Islam or the teaching of Islam has anything to do with what you’ve seen on the screen.”

Mayor Kenney said of the shooting, “It is abhorrent. It is terrible and it does not represent the religion in any way, shape or form, or any of its teachings.” He continued, “this is a criminal with a stolen gun who tried to kill one of our officers…” (Trying to tie the incident to gun control. They never give up, do they?) “…It has nothing to do with being a Muslim or following the Islamic faith.”

Denying the truth, using euphemisms and not willfully identifying the enemy does not change the events or the perpetrators!

The mayor was lying. He was calling all of us stupid (except for the five idiots who were standing behind him during the news conference shaking their heads up and down in approval like a bunch of cows after feeding time). Those of us who watched the video in horror clearly saw this man wearing a dishdasha (a long, usually white robe traditionally worn by men in the Middle East) jump out of the shadows and pump 13 bullets through the driver’s side of the police cruiser! It was a miracle this police officer lived through this and chased the terrorist down the street and managed to shoot him.

Does this sound familiar? We were told that when Major Nidal Hasan killed 13 and wounded 30 of his fellow soldiers in Fort Hood, it was “workplace violence,” and not Islamic terrorism, although the major acted on behalf of Islam (in his own words).

When the husband and wife team of Islamic terrorists who, in cold blood, killed their very own friends and neighbors in San Bernardino, California, the truth was not disclosed for many hours after the event. Their ISIS connections were not disclosed. (Caution to the readers: if names of the perpetrators are not disclosed immediately after any terror attack, you can be sure the truth is being hidden from you.)

On the other hand, within hours of the massacre two shameful attorneys hired by CAIR* (the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a highly subversive and controversial organization whose main goal is to force Islam’s religion and culture on the United States) held a press conference trying to convince the American people that this was just a wonderful couple who had no real connections or allegiances to any Islamic group; they loved America and they were only working on their car in their garage every night (and not manufacturing bombs as later discovered by the FBI).

You can’t make these up. These are all very dangerous matters! This leads to my second point:

Treaty with Iran.

Iran is a terrorist-supporting nation ruled by a bunch of thugs in mullah’s uniforms, having killed directly or indirectly our military personnel. Yet we signed a treaty with this rogue nation under the guise of stopping them from getting a nuclear weapon. And we received NOTHING in return for it as six Americans have been sitting in despicable Iranian jails for over four years.

What were we thinking? Did you ask yourselves why?

We were told by our very own inept government officials, Iran will be inspecting their nuclear sites themselves and reporting the results back to us. Are you kidding us? Or do you think we are all as stupid as we look?

Within minutes of the signing of this stupid treaty, Ayatollah Khamenei the great (not a title I would have bestowed upon him) mullah of Iran was already declaring the treaty null and void, since any agreement signed with the infidel was not worth the paper it was written on. Yet, our government pressed on. They were desperate for this agreement for a number of reasons.

Being so hell bent on not losing this terrible treaty, they allowed the Iranian mullahs to embarrass us over and over again. They embarrassed us by test firing a nuclear capable ballistic missile in October, in brazen violation of security council resolutions prohibiting such launches. We did absolutely nothing to punish or deter the Iranians.

So what did the Iranians do? Thirty days later they did again, within 1,500 yards of a U.S. warship in the Gulf.

What did our government do? They threatened the Iranians with some mild sanctions on December 30th at 9 AM Washington time, and quickly rescinded them at 10 PM the same evening. Within a few moments of rescinding the threatened sanctions, the Iranian president ordered his military to expedite the missile program.

And that was not the end of the Iranians’ aggressive moves. They captured two disabled naval vessels in the Arabian Gulf, filmed the incident in brazen violation of the Geneva Conventions (when confronted, claimed since there is no declared war between the two nations, Geneva Conventions did not apply), and had a young and admittedly inexperienced U.S. lieutenant apologize to the captors for a mistake they made. This was most embarrassing to those of us who love this country, and our military service members who serve honorably and bravely all around the world.

And as if that was not enough, after the release of the sailors our secretary of state (who came back from Vietnam and damned his comrades who would have given their lives for him if they had to, as criminals, murderers and rapists before he threw his medals into the Potomac, later admitting they were fake, because he kept the real ones. A liar is always a liar. Remember the “donkey?”) thanked the Iranian regime for being so nice to our sailors and told us that the release was possible due to our new relationship with Iran after the nuclear treaty. I was embarrassed and saddened watching this miserable man thanking our enemy for being nice to our servicemen they captured. I thought for a minute of the day I sat in front of my TV set in New Jersey and cried watching another sad excuse for a commander in chief, Jimmy Carter explaining why the rescue mission in Iran failed and our brave servicemen were killed and their bodies abused by the same Iranians we are signing treaties with!

Give us a break Mr. Secretary, who do you think you are fooling? It was shameful to thank a band of thugs for capturing the crew of a disabled vessel and treating them like prisoners of war! I assure you, that is not the end of this story. However, by the time you read this article we would have already released nearly 150 billion dollars to the same Iranians as a part of the stupid nuclear treaty, barring a nuclear test in Iran over the weekend.

Iranians know how desperate our government is not to have the treaty cancelled. So, the miserable mullahs play with us. These actions of our government are hard to swallow at any level.

My third point:

Lack of leadership around the world

The above examples in points one and two are enough to prove my thesis that no strong world leaders emerged in the last 20 years or so. There were political leaders, but they are not world leaders.

America slowly lost her leadership position around the world in the last few years due to total lack of any leadership. Some regional leaders emerged. These were mostly politicians, dictators or ordinary party hacks, and did not bring anything new to the table.

If we as Americans are not careful, do not pay attention to events around us, or use our God-given, constitutionally approved powers to change things around quickly, we will join the Europeans on the losing side of the clash of civilizations. I am very concerned about our future.

I would like to end with the following thoughts:

Never forget we are Americans.

We always come back from adversity
and renew ourselves.

Be very vigilant.

Do not let your guard down.

Look around, observe.

If you see something, say something.

Do not believe everything
that is being fed to you via the internet, your favorite TV station, your favorite politician or your local leaders.
They all have their own little agendas.

Make your own research.
Find out what is going on around you
on your own.

And make sure you elect leaders
who have at least half the passion I have for my country.

God bless America.

*CAIR: CAIR’S major agenda includes:

1: Strong-arming corporations into Islamizing their workplaces to conform to Muslim culture.

2: Actively resists any legitimate profiling of Muslim air travelers with SSS (secondary security screening) by encouraging lawsuits against airlines that do it.
