Santa Claus to Reveal Management Secrets

Perez and van Veen Join Board

The Neighborhood Health Clinic (Clinic), a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization providing Collier County’s working, uninsured resident’s affordable medical and dental care, welcomes Dr. Alejandro D. Perez and Marti van Veen to the charity’s Board of Directors, effective October 1, 2018.

Chief Medical Officer for Millenium South West Florida Physicians Group, Dr. Alejandro D. Perez established his practice as a Naples Internist in 2006. He currently serves on the Executive Board for Collier County Medical Society and is a Delegate with the Florida Medical Association House of Delegates, as well as participating in additional boards and committees. His prior experience includes nearly two decades of work at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio and Weston, FL.

System Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Physicians Regional Healthcare System since 2015, Marti Van Veen is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is active in multiple service organizations throughout the greater Naples area. Prior to her current role, Van Veen was the System Director of Business Development, Strategy and Marketing at Bayfront Health Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda. She has more than 25 years of healthcare management experience, and is passionate about working with local organizations that assist individuals with their medical needs.

Perez and van Veen join the Clinic’s 18-member Board of Directors for the 2018-2019 year in supporting the Clinic’s mission to deliver quality medical and dental care to low-income, working but uninsured Collier County adults, using a volunteer professional staff in a caring and supportive environment. The Board also helps determine, review and approve major policies. Board members attend and participate in fundraising events, programs and activities.

Roxberry  2018 Athlete of the Year

Collier County has named Jason Roxberry as its 2018 Inspirational Athlete of the Year. Roxberry was selected from among more than 1,000 athletes in Collier County.

Roxberry is a long-time Special Olympics athlete who has competed in a variety of sports at the local, state, and international levels. He currently competes in golf, bowling, basketball, and track and field.

He is also a member of the Special Olympics Florida – Collier County Athlete Leadership Council. Special Olympics’ Athlete Leadership Program empowers athletes to develop leadership skills and to use their voices and abilities to take on meaningful leadership roles, influence change in the Special Olympics movement, and create inclusive communities around the world. Each athlete leader works one-on-one with a volunteer mentor. Athletes may serve as spokespersons, team captains, coaches, or officials.

In Roxberry’s role as an athlete leader, he frequently announces and presents awards to his fellow athletes at local competitions. He and other local athlete leaders also contribute articles to Collier’s “Spotlight” newsletter, and he is currently planning a fundraising event at the local Publix store where he works, to help fund initiatives of the Athlete Leadership Council.

Founded in 1972, Special Olympics Florida – Collier County offers free training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for athletes with intellectual disabilities. The organization welcomes competitors at all ability levels. Athletes are assigned to competition divisions based on age, gender, and actual performance. Walk to end Alzheimer’s®

The Alzheimer’s Association® is inviting Collier County residents to join the fight to end Alzheimer’s by participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The Walk will take place on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at North Collier Regional Park, 15000 Livingston Road, Naples, Fla. Registration begins at 8 a.m. This is a family-friendly event.

18Th Annual Bikers for Babies Ride

Bikers for Babies plays a critical role in raising funds to support research and medical services relating to fighting for the health of ALL moms and babies. Each year riders and non-riders alike unite to raise funds for the nonprofit, to date raising more than $2 million dollars locally to reduce premature births and give every baby a fighting chance.
