The Greater Marco Family YMCA



Swim lessons with Dottie return for the 2010 season to the Greater Marco Family YMCA Aquatic Center.

The 2010 Spring Swim Programs will be offered from April 5-15, April 26- May 6 and May 17-27. All swim classes will meet for two weeks from Monday through Thursday. Parent/Child: 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. Pike Eel: 3:30 to 4:00 p.m. or 6 to 6:30 p.m. Ray/Starfish: 4 to 4:45 p.m. Guppy/ Minnow: 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. Fish/Flying Fish/ Shark: 4:45 to 5; 30 p.m.

Learn to Swim Program Definitions: Parent / Child: from 6 months to 3 years old. A parent, grandparent or designated babysitter must be in the pool with the child. Work with adult on how to get baby adjusted to water and water safety. Pike: 3 years and older. Beginners that cannot swim. Learn safety rules, how to put face in the water, how to reach and pull, and sculling. Eel: Can put face in the water, learns to blow bubbles and bring their head up for a breath. Review reach and pull and sculling. Ray: Learn freestyle with rhythmic breathing and elementary backstroke. Review sculling. Starfish: Learn backstroke. Review freestyle with rhythmic breathing, elementary backstroke and sculling. Guppy: Learn breaststroke, review other styles. Minnow: Learn butterfly and review other styles. Fish: Learn sidestroke and review other styles. Flying Fish: Review and perfect all of the above strokes. Shark: Experienced swimmers. Review and perfect all of the above learned strokes for competitive swimming. Water Safety: Learned and reviewed each class of every session 1. Safety rules, 2. Life Jacket review, 3. Tread water and survival floating.

Put Play Into Your Day! Attention Kids- Free Fitness Event! Friday April 16: You are invited to join the greater Marco Family YMCA for Healthy Kid’s Day! We will have lots of games and prizes and parents are welcome to participate too. All participants must walk to the Y with the YMCA After School Program participants if not accompanied by a parent. Students must have a signed permission slip to attend. Permission slips available at the Y Customer Service desk and need to be returned by April 14. The program time is 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. with gym fitness and a nutritional snack and from 4:30 to 5; 30 p.m. is scheduled Family Fun Sports and Field Sport Fun!

Get ready for a “Funtastic Summer” at Greater Marco Family YMCA Day Camp! Join the Y for another fun filled summer packed with games, sports, field trips and exciting “Fun Fridays.” Explore your creative side, meet new friends, and enjoy water days with the YMCA. We’ve got new themes, new games and new parties planned! Camp runs from June 14 to August 20, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Camp meets at the south end of the Y property for pick up and drop off. Each week there will be a camp theme and age appropriate activities will reflect the week’s theme.

Week Theme’s: Week 1- Passport to Summer. Week 2- Global Getaways/ Culture Week. Week 3- USA Olympics. Week 4- Go Green! Week 5- We Got Game. Week 6- Dr. Seuss Week. Week 7- Retro Week. Week 8- Tribal Week. Week 9- Life Beyond Stars. Week 10- Balloons, Bubbles and Balls.

There are flexible payment schedules available. Children must be 5 years old by June 1st. Parent information meeting is scheduled for June 9, 6 p.m. in Port. C. Only Full Summer and Weekly Full Day programs include field trips. Payment Options: Full Summer, paid by June 9. Members and Community Members, $675. Full Summer Sibling, $660. Weekly Rates, Full Days: Members $80, Community Members $90. Sibling Rate: Members only $70. Weekly Rate ½ days excludes fieldtrip days: 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 12:30 to 6 p.m. Members $60, Community members $70. Day Rate: must pre register (field trip days add $7, t-shirt fee add $10).
