The 6th Annual ACS Fashion Show and Lunch at Bistro Soleil

  By Melinda Gray

Ladies and gentlemen dressed to impress came out to the Bistro Soleil at the Olde Marco Inn to socialize and enjoy the 6th Annual Fashion Show and Lunch Tuesday, March 4.

Lisa Meurgue, cancer survivor and owner of the Bistro Soleil, and her friend Joyce McFarland, owner of Marco Island Clothing Company, started the event after Meurgue was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008. The show was a huge success its first year, and each year since.

“I really wanted to do something for the cause, so my friend Joyce and I decided to do this fashion show,” said Meurgue.

Family and friends volunteer every year to help her organize and run the show. Friends and fellow cancer survivors showed the casual clothing and evening wear as the crowd cheered and enjoyed their meal. Fox-4 News anchors Patrick Nolan and Emily Dishnow emceed the event, supplying the colorful commentary that’s now as integral to the show as the fashion.

As always, the clothing was provided exclusively by the Marco Island Clothing Company, and proceeds go to benefit the Greater Marco Island Unit of the American Cancer Society.
