The Saul I. Stern Cultural Series will conclude this season with a very special event on Sunday evening, March 11, at 7:30PM at the Jewish Congregation, 991 Winterberry Drive, Marco Island. Mordecai Dzikansky, a retired New York City police officer, will talk about his work with the Israeli government in searching out terrorists who threaten our country, Israel and any friends of the American and Israeli way of life.

Dzikansky, son of a Rabbi, became one of the first Orthodox Jewish police officers on the New York City Police Department. He was fluent in Hebrew and Yiddish and invaluable to the department in areas of the city where the two languages were prominent.

He was involved in high profile cases, including the capture of thieves who stole precious Torahs from synagogues in the Upper West Side of New York. He was assigned as liaison between NYPD and the Israeli Security Force working with anti-terrorist police units in Israel. He learned invaluable skills which were used by the New York Police Department to detect and monitor potential terrorist activity in the city.

Mordecai Dzikansky has much to offer about the continuing threat of terrorism in the Middle East as well as here at home. We need to be aware of the grave dangers facing the United States, Israel and countries friendly to our principles of freedom and justice.

Roger Blau will conduct a question and answer period and Mr. Dzikansky will be available to sign copies of his book, Terrorist Cop, during a reception following his talk. Tickets, which are $20 for members and $25 for non-members, may be obtained by calling the JCMI office at 239-642-0800.
