St. Mark’s Episcopal Church was abuzz with activity from the moment their doors opened for the 50th Annual Flea Market Sale last Thursday morning. For days ahead of the annual event, an army of volunteers kept busy organizing the church and grounds for the much-anticipated community event.

Marco Island Police stayed busy all day directing traffic and assisting pedestrians who chose to either walk or ride their bicycles to the well-attended event. Cars overflowed the parking lot, and could be seen parked throughout the side streets. Volunteer parking coordinators directed motorists around the event and in-andout of the onsite parking.

Kevin Fitzgerald, the Senior Warden of St. Mark’s, provided attendees with uplifting music to keep their feet moving, and their pocketbooks open, to help make the event another successful one for the church.

According to Jack Patterson, a member of the church and longtime volunteer at the event, the lines were steady all day. “It’s just so great seeing so many smiles and happy faces walking between the buildings and all of the tents,” said Patterson.

One of the largest fundraisers for the church, the monies raised will be used to help support many ministries and outreach programs within the community.
