Spring Jubilee

With 20,000 plastic eggs on the field at Mackle Park ready for plucking, and children lined up in droves, City Councilman Ken Honecker declared “GO!” And they were off! In mere seconds, all eggs were stuffed in baskets, bags and buckets.

The City of Marco Island Parks and Rec Deparment provides this treat for area children annually. “It’s a popular event,” says Mindy Gordon, Recreation Director. “The park staff, area teens, the senior softball club, the Knights of Columbus, Optimist Club of Marco Island, Kiwanis Key Club, Marco Magic Cheerleaders and other groups volunteer to make it a success.” Between the magic show, bounce houses, Velcro wall, mini-train rides, dunk tank, face painting, hula hoop and dance contests, arts and crafts, games, snow cones and pictures with the Easter Bunny, there was plenty of fun to be had no matter one’s age. Mobile Sound Entertainment provided the music.
