Photo by Maria Lamb | What is a false crawl? A false crawl is when a sea turtle comes ashore but for some reason gets startled or unhappy with the area and returns to the sea without making a nest or laying her eggs. Imagine yourself as a 300+ sea turtle, dragging yourself to shore with your flippers and someone left their towel or a beach chair making it harder for you to find the right spot. In the water, sea turtles are buoyant and graceful, but on land, they are slow and cumbersome. Please keep the beach flat and clean for our sea turtles during nesting season.
