Marco Island’s Veteran’s of Foreign Wars, Post 6370, will hold its Poppy Sale island-wide on Saturday, February 12th. Uniformed Post members will be at the island’s food, drug and hardware stores from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Donations for poppies go to the VFW’s Emergency Relief Fund. The entire proceeds from the sale are used exclusively for Veterans and their families in need.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars are chartered by the United States Government and its members can be identified by their uniforms and insignias. We are permitted by the City of Marco Island, and allowed by island retailers to sell poppies and flags for donations.
The VFW is totally committed to its comrades in arms, to those who no longer actively serve, to those who remain prisoners of war, those missing in action and to those who are disabled. We remain committed to the widows and orphans of our comrades who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation with their lives.
Our VFW Post sincerely appreciates the support of the City of Marco Island, its retailers and the very generous residents and visitors of the island. We most gratefully appreciate the help of our island’s newspapers and past and ongoing cooperation and support of you all. Without your help we could no longer continue to support homes such as The Veteran’s Home at Ft. McCoy, Florida, the National Home for Widows and Orphans of those killed in Action, as well as other Veteran’s Care organizations. Our sincere appreciation goes to all of you.
Vice Commander Jerry Stephenson
