For the seventh year, the City of Marco Island employees participated in the Give Back–Fill a Pack initiative in support of the Shelter for Abused Women and Children. The Shelter collects school supplies annually to ensure that school-aged children are well prepared when heading back to school in August.

The goal to surpass last year’s total of 64 backpacks was accomplished, and a total of 84 backpacks were donated. “We are happy to assist the children in our community with school supplies and encouragement that will enable them to learn and be successful in life,” said Police Chief Al Schettino.

The Shelter for Abused Women and Children provides vital assistance to domestic abuse victims throughout Collier County, including Marco Island. For the past 25 years, the shelter has assisted more than 68,000 child victims and survivors of domestic violence through safety, intervention and direct support.
