Naples, FL — March 7, 2011 — Physicians Regional Healthcare System CEO Joe D. Pinion announced the opening of The Vein Center on the campus of Physicians Regional-Pine Ridge. The Vein Center at Physicians Regional provides the most modern, medically advanced treatment options to patients with venous disease.
“We are very pleased to offer this program to the Southwest Florida community,” said Pinion. “Patients will benefit from a team of outstanding physicians who provides the highest quality, most innovative treatments available for venous disease.”
The Vein Center at Physicians Regional is located on the first floor of the hospital with a separate outside entrance, and includes four private patient suites – two for patient evaluations, consultations and follow ups, and two for procedures. The procedure suites, designed for patient comfort and convenience, include amenities such as televisions for patients to view during procedures, and are equipped with the latest, state-of-the-art technology for performing the following medical and cosmetic procedures:
· Laser and Radiofrequency Ablation: Minimally invasive procedures that use radiofrequency waves and heat to seal a leaky vein, and improve circulation and appearance.
· Microphelebectomy: A minimally invasive procedure where tiny incisions are used to remove varicose veins that are causing pain and unsightly bulging.
· Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy: A treatment procedure using ultrasound to inject varicose veins with a liquid solution that causes them to dissolve.
· Sclerotherapy: A non-surgical procedure in which a solution is injected into spider veins.
The Vein Center offers a multidisciplinary team approach to treating venous disease. This collaborative effort provides expertise from Physicians Regional’s Cardiology and Vascular Surgery Divisions, and includes the following physicians: Richard Gelb, M.D., Cardiologist; Julian Javier, M.D., Cardiologist; and Argyrios Tzilinis, M.D., Vascular Surgeon.
Symptoms of venous insufficiency or venous disease include the following: leg pain, heaviness, tenderness along a vein, burning, numbness, restlessness, night cramps, edema or swelling, skin changes or discoloration, or ulcers.
