The Cub Scouts from Pack 234 recently held their annual Pinewood Derby at Mackle Park on Marco Island. This is the 65th year for the Pinewood Derby for the Boy Scouts of America. Boy Scouts from Troop 234 assisted, earning community service hours.
The scouts had fun racing the cars that they had built with their families, to earn patches and competed for the chance go on to the Alligator District Pinewood Derby at the Coastland Center Mall in Naples.
At the District races, out of 54 competitors, Pack 234 had three scouts qualify to move on to Regionals in May. Edward Kelly won second place among Tiger Scouts (first graders), Charlie Haunschild won second place among the Wolf Scouts (second graders), and Nathan Olsen won second place in Webelos 1 (fourth graders) and third overall for the District.
