“The Marco Island firefighters work for 2 days and have 4 days off. Although this seems like a great schedule, they have a tough job and spend a lot of time away from their families. I really appreciate what they do!” ~Angelica T.
“Being a firefighter is not as easy as I thought. There are many things to learn and many courses to take, such as CPR/First Aid. They spend a lot of time away from their families, but lean on each other for support. It is a hard job saving lives.” ~Brianna G.
“Firefighters respond to many different situations, not just fires. I did not know they had to sleep at the fire station. I thought they slept at home and returned to work in the morning like everyone else. Their job is very different from others that I am used to.” ~Venessa V.
“Firefighting may seem hard, but there is nothing like saving a life. The trip to the fire station was an awesome experience for me! It only takes two years to become a firefighter, but they have to exercise daily and work 48 hour shifts which require them to be away from their families for a long time. The most important thing I learned was that you have to be able to risk your life to save someone else’s. I am thankful for what they do!” ~Julie M.
