Would anyone be interested in taking some tours of different County departments? I have scheduled tours of the South Water Treatment Plant located on 951 near the landfill for January 5th from 10 am till noon, the Wastewater Treatment Facility at 10500 Goodlette Rd. N. for February 3rd from 2 pm to 4 pm, the Landfill and Marco Island Recycling Center for February 10th from 9 am to noon, and the Emergency Operations Center on Lely Cultural Blvd. for March 1st from 1 pm to 4 pm (this tour will also include a tour of the South Regional Library located on the property in front of the EOC. I can only accommodate 20 people for each tour and I’m offering it to anyone in the county on a first come, first serve basis, so you will want to sign up soon.

These tours are very interesting and informative, and you learn more than you ever realized was taking place! If you are interested in any of these guided tours to see these facilities first hand, please call my aide Sue at 252-8097 and ask to be put on the list.

The new Lowe’s is open and are very impressed with the number of people already shopping! I spoke to the manager, a member of one of the oldest families in Collier County I might add, who was very pleased with the reception they have received. The store is huge, the employees are friendly and helpful, and they seem to have everything you would ever want to fix or improve anything in your home. I mentioned to them that I had learned recently from the people at the Carrabba’s on U.S. 41 E., that they have the busiest store in the entire Carrabba’s system! That says a lot for people clamoring for stores and restaurants within that corridor, so I would guess they would be surprised with how busy they will be. Soon to open will be Dunkin’ Donuts in the old Prudential Real Estate building on 951 near U.S. 41 E. They have even been working nights to get that place open and ready for business. Well, I can tell you – we are ready for them! We can hardly wait!

One of Marco’s own – Judy Barney and Arturo Perez – have recently opened a restaurant/bar in the Naples Towne Centre Shopping Plaza on U.S. 41 E. They have owned the building for a number of years and decided that this is the time to open their own restaurant in this location named Blue Agave Tequila Bar and Grill. Judy Barney states, “We are offering quality first, with the best prices around. It definitely will be a fun place for all to enjoy”. They will be offering authentic food for lunch and dinner, and will specialize in tequila tastings and seminars. By the way, blue agave is the Mexican plant used as the base ingredient of tequila. They will also feature daily happy hours and weekend entertainment.

I hope each and every one of you is enjoying this wonderful holiday season, and that the New Year brings us all peace, happiness, and good health.
