Supervisor of Elections Scholarships

Jennifer J. Edwards, Collier County Supervisor of Elections, is accepting applications for a scholarship opportunity until Thursday, March 29. The Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections (FSASE) is offering three $1,200 scholarships to eligible Florida residents enrolled or accepted as full-time students in a senior college or university in Florida.

Applicants must be Political Science, Public or Business Administration, or Journalism/Mass Communication majors who have finished two years of junior college or undergraduate work. Students should also demonstrate a financial need.



The scholarship applications and guidelines are available at www.Collier- Votes.com, or can be obtained at the Collier County Supervisor of Elections Office located at 3750 Enterprise Avenue, Naples, FL 34104.

Completed applications and two letters of recommendation must be submitted by 5 p.m. on March 29 to the Supervisor of Elections of the county in which the applicant is registered to vote.

The Naples Trust Company, a division of The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company announced today two strategic appointments – West McCann, CFA will serve as President of The Naples Trust Company and Carol B. Boyd has been promoted to Regional Corporate Director. Boyd said, “Meeting our clients’ goals and providing them with exceptional service is our highest priority. The day to day operations of The Naples Trust Company will transition to McCann, who brings with him an established reputation in the wealth management industry.

McCann joins The Naples Trust Company from Northern Trust where he has held a prestigious career since 2001. Most recently, he served as Managing Director of the Bonita Springs and Fort Myers markets, responsible for $1.75 billion in Assets under Management. Earlier he held the position of Managing Executive of their Naples Fifth Avenue office. McCann has over 30 years of wealth management and portfolio management experience, having established and built his career in portfolio management and team oversight at banking institutions throughout the Southeastern U.S. He is a graduate of Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia where he earned a BBA in finance, and subsequently became a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. West is a member of the CFA Institute and Investment Management Consultant Association.

Carol Boyd, Regional Corporate Director for the Collier County market served as President of The Naples Trust Company since 2013. “Carol has been instrumental in the strategic direction and growth of the Naples and Marco Island markets since her arrival,” said Richard Botthof, Vice Chairman of The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company. “Today we have more than tripled our number of client families as well as assets under management.”

Both McCann and Boyd are dedicated to nonprofit organizations throughout Southwest Florida. McCann currently serves as board chairman of Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary; vice chairman of New Horizons of Southwest Florida and is a board member of Hope Hospice of Lee County. As an advocate of children’s causes, Boyd has devoted over 30 years to multiple organizations – primarily in the areas of health and education.

Shy Wolf Sanctuary Education and Experience Center will host training courses for animal communications.

Renee’ Johnson will be the guest teacher for this event sharing with participants her Trinity method of communication. The session will cover Communication Aspects, Energy Sensing, and Tuning In. Additionally, she will be sharing with participants the basics like grounding and protecting yourself while doing energy work. This will be an in depth interactive course allowing participants the rare opportunity to visit the sanctuary and to work with the resident animals on a more personal level.

A one day intensive will be held on two separate dates March 20th and 22nd at the sanctuary for the introductory course. An advanced course will be offered March 29. Various animal species will be available for practicing acquired skills. Participants should also bring a photo of one of their personal animals for part of the workshop.

Today, NFL cornerback and Bradenton, Fla.-native Dominique Rodgers- Cromartie and UnitedHealthcare donated $20,000 to Immokalee High School.

The grant from UnitedHealthcare to Rodgers-Cromartie’s Dreambuilders Foundation will provide uniforms, equipment, travel and training for Immokalee High boys and girls sports. The campus served as a shelter for hundreds of residents during Hurricane Irma, and the school canceled fall sporting events that serve as athletics’ primary revenue source.

Dorothy Southwick from Marco Island was JCMI’s Monday Night Hotball Winner and Penny Sampson of Mashpee, MA took home a big pile of money Monday night. Bingo is played at the Jewish Congregation of Marco Island, 991 Winterberry Drive, every Monday night. The Knights of Columbus San Marco Council #6344 held a Bingo Night at the San Marco Catholic Church Parish Center to raise funds for the many charities to which the Council contributes. The event included many games such as Lucky Ball, Pull Tab, etc. Cash prizes, Coach bag prize and more! All were welcome and all attendees had a good time.
