Niblock Facing Second Battery Charge

A second woman has brought forward a “battery” complaint against the newly fired Marco Island City Manager, Dr. Lee Niblock. This time it was from an incident alleged to have taken place in Alachua County, Florida in June 2017. Niblock was employed as the Alachua County Manager until August 2017, when his employment there was terminated.

According to sources in Gainesville, Niblock made unwanted sexual advances on Jessica Hurov during a June 2017 incident. In that incident, which occurred in Gainesville, Niblock is alleged to have utilized some of the same tactics as he did regarding the incident here on Marco Island with another woman. That also resulted in the filing of a “battery” complaint against him here, which led to the eventual dismissal of Niblock from his $185,000 a year job.

On Monday, the Marco Island City Council voted unanimously to terminate Niblock from his job with cause, which would disallow any large severance package being paid. His attorney has vowed to fight that decision. Niblock was hired in November 2017 by a 5-2 vote of council.

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation concerning the incident on Marco Island.
