Nest Fest is the Best




The Marco Eagle Sanctuary Foundation (MESF) hosted the Third Annual NEST FEST at the Island Country Club on April 6th. Linda Turner began the Nest Fest celebration with a warm “welcome to all our fine feathered friends,” addressing the many guests donned in feather boas and hairpieces. This sold-out event was a successful fundraiser for the preservation of the Marco Eagle Sanctuary and its resident Bald Eagles, Paleo and Calusa (named by Tommy Barfield Elementary Students).

County and at the state level. The Marco Eagle Sanctuary Foundation is working with national groups such as the American Bald Eagle Foundation in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and international groups such as Hancock Wildlife in Washington State and British Columbia, Canada.

Chairman Way reminded the guests that the Marco Eagle Sanctuary is the last piece of undeveloped green space available for a nature preserve on Marco Island and asked for continued community support so the sanctuary would be something for our children and grandchildren to enjoy.

Judy Sacher, 50-50 chair woman, fluttered about in royal blue feathers throughout the evening selling numerous tickets. The 50-50 winning ticket was purchased by Jon and Suzan Busch with Suzan very generously donating their winnings back to the foundation. The top three faux-feathered contest winners were Karen Tucker, Alex Orsilini and Joanne Herndon  After dinner and dessert, guests rocked and rolled to music by Hot Damn.
