On Nov. 11, artist Malenda Trick’s breathtaking Memorial Wall of historical images of our valiant soldiers at war will be unveiled in a ceremony beginning at 5 PM at the Marco Island Historical Museum, in front of veterans, local, state and federal officials and the public.
Trick began painting on her third Veterans’ Day project on July 15, and has painted every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at the Marco Island Historical Museum since that day to create dramatic images of Florida’s soldiers at war and our national war efforts. The memorial wall then will travel throughout Florida and by April 23-26, 2015, will have made its way to Orlando to be a part of the Daughters of the American Revolution convention that the Marco Island Chapter is hosting this coming year.
It is hoped that this wonderful work can then be exported to move around our nation, reminding all who see it of the great debt we owe these men and women of our armed services. This contemporary work of art will forever allow remembrance of those that risked it all to keep us free.
