The Marco Island Center for the Arts February exhibition is a Members Only Show, showcasing the work of member-artists. The exhibit is currently open, and runs through February 28, 2017.
The Center’s Main Gallery will feature work in a variety of medium available for viewing enjoyment and purchase. The exhibit will be judged by Barbara Anderson Hill. Hill has served Florida’s leading art and cultural institutions for 30 years with professional expertise as executive director, curator, collections manager, juror, grant writer, educator and public art professional. She isa member of the University of South Florida’s Institute of Research in Art/Contemporary Art Museum advisory board, Lee County Alliance for the Arts board of directors and chairs the Mound House advisory board. As Hyla Crane, executive director noted, “A judged show brings out the best in our artists. This will be an outstanding exhibit.”
The exhibit will include over 115 artworks from no less than 65 artists. It will be a cornucopia of art! As always, the exhibit is open to the public and is free ofcharge.
La Petite Galerie will showcase the art of Heidi Saletko. Saletko specializes in creating life-like animal masks from discarded palm fronds and other garden foliage. Most of her work is acrylic on palm fronds, but she also paints on canvas. Her three-dimensional animal masks are as unique as the trees from which they came. Her art is based in part on her zoology studies at Bethany Lutheran College and displays a unique whimsy and imagination.
