The Research Team on board the Dolphin Explorer is happy to share information about your area dolphins with the Coastal Breeze News readers. Each edition an individual will be profiled so that you, too, might get to know them. Dolphins can be identified by the nicks and marks on their dorsal fins.
Meet Parton
Turning three-years-old in the fall, this youngster is the offspring of female Dolly. Some of the other three-year-olds in the area have left mom’s side, which is a good indication that their moms are pregnant.
All eyes are on Parton over the next few months to see if its mom will also give birth, sending this one out on its own. Parton is also a shark bite survivor and has a permanent scar around the right eye.
