Meet Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP)

Celebrate Women’s History Month on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at a presentation on Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) by John Marsh and WASPs Bee Haydu and Shirley Kruse. The presentation will take place at the Collier County South Regional Library from 2-3:30 PM.

At the height of World War II, between 1942 and 1944, 1,830 women left homes and jobs for the opportunity of a lifetime — to become the first women in history to fly for the U.S. military. They volunteered in an experimental Army Air Corp program to see if women could serve as pilots, to relieve men for combat duty. These women became the Women Airforce Service Pilots, better known as the WASP.

Come meet two of these extraordinary women – WASPs Bee Haydu and Shirley Kruse and hear their stories of how they and others exceeded beyond all expectations!

Registration for the 90-minute presentation is required.

South Regional Library is located at 8065 Lely Cultural Pkwy. For more information call 239-252-7542 or visit
