The Marco Island Meals of Hope project feeds hungry children and their family’s right here in Collier County. The 2015 packaging event will take place on Saturday November 14th at the Marco Island Charter Middle School. There is a ton of fundraising work to do between now and then to pay for the raw food materials that we package into meals. The packaging event is a joint effort of the Marco Island Sunrise and the Noontime Rotary Clubs and the Kiwanis Club of Marco Island. Tell any friends or family who have a soft spot in their hearts for hungry children to go to feedcollier.org.

In 2014, we set a fundraising goal of $40,000 to package 200,000 meals at our event. The goals were set and the goals were achieved but the need is greater than ever. The goal for the 2015 event is to package 225,000 meals and thus $45,000 needs to be raised to achieve that goal. With your help, we will achieve hit the target! To get there, a monthly After Five fundraiser at one of Marco’s award winning dining establishments will be held. The 2015 After Five calendar is being finalized and will be available shortly.

Curt and Jacquie Koon have graciously agreed to kick off the 2015 season and open the doors of CJ’s on the Bay for the first Meals of Hope after Five on Tuesday February 24, 2015!

This event is 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is open to the public.

There will be complimentary gourmet hors d’oeuvres, happy hour drink pricing and live entertainment courtesy of Rose Kraemer! The proceeds from the $10.00 entry fee benefits Meals of Hope!

Meals of Hope tee shirts, hats, 50/50 raffle tickets will be available to purchase.

Don’t forget about the Meals of Hope fundraiser called Korks for Kids. Please save corks from your favorite bottles of wines and bring them to any Meals of Hope event or directly to the Old Marco Pub and Restaurant. Susan Ackerson, owner of the restaurant, sells the corks on eBay and all proceeds benefit the kids.
