The Marco Police Foundation will host its annual Dick Shanahan Memorial Golf Tournament on Saturday, October 6, 2018. The four-player scramble event begins with registration at 7:30 AM and a shotgun start at 8:30 AM. Golfers will gather after the competition for lunch and prizes around 1 PM.
This year’s tournament takes place on the newly redesigned golf course at the Island Country Country Club on Marco Island. This will be the first community tournament open to the general public on the new course and promises to be a special treat for players.
“We are glad to be back at the Island Country Club with a brand new golf course,” said Marco Police Foundation President Dick Adams. “Tournament players are in for a great day and are sure to be challenged with this new design.”
“This tournament is a great opportunity to remember the great work of Dick Shanahan on behalf of this organization and our entire community,” added Adams. “It also gives us all a chance to stand with our Marco Island police officers who protect us everyday.”
The Marco Island Police Foundation is a community-based charitable organization that works with the Marco Island Police Department promoting citizen participation to maintain community safety. The foundation honors police officers through special recognition programs and works to assist officers and their children with continuing education.
