Marco Island Sail & Power Squadron’s 40th Anniversary Wine & Hors d’oeuvres Party

Eagle Cay residents enjoy the festivities.

Nearly 400 guests filled the San Marco Catholic Church Parish Hall recently for the Marco Island Sail and Power Squadron’s Annual Wine & Hors d’oeuvres Party. A $20 entry provided guests not only with unlimited wine, beer, water, soda, and hors d’oeuvres but also included an endless amount of possibilities with an incredible selection of silent auction and raffle items. Guests happily increased their odds by purchasing tickets for raffle prizes, 50/50 raffles, and a chance at the $250 door prize. Major sponsors included: Executive Home Watch, Rose Marina, Siegel Dentistry, Ehlen Carpet & Flooring, and Wynn’s Market in Naples.

“Tonight, we have 50 volunteers here working to make this event a success. This is our one and only fundraiser of the year, and it supports our ability to offer safe boating classes to the residents of Marco Island,” explains Club Commander, Gene Burson. “To be more inclusive for families, we recently changed our name to be recognized as the America’s Boating Club-Marco Island. This new name signifies that power boaters, sailors, kayakers, paddle boarders, wave runner operators, fishing enthusiasts…all boaters, regardless of type or use, are welcome to be part of America’s Boating Club-Marco Island.”

“We (MISP) just celebrated our 40th year. It’s such a great organization. I joined when we first moved here. I’ve taken multiple classes and am currently taking a weather seminar. The education program is wonderful, offering a number of boating courses from basic boating to advanced piloting and junior navigation. It’s been a great way to meet people and do something for the community,” remarks club member, Marcy Marinelli.
