The Marco Island Lions Club will open its fall season with a dinner meeting on Wednesday, October 7 at Mario’s Restaurant, 845 Bald Eagle Drive. Social hour is at 6:30 PM with dinner at 7:00 PM. We will order from the menu of many selections.
Call Secretary Lee Pershing for reservations at 293-293-2700.
Our featured speaker will be Art Bookbinder, President of Lighthouse of Collier. The two groups have many objectives in common, and Mr. Bookbinder brings a wealth of professional and personal background knowledge to us.
We are also presenting an award to the wife of Ronald Gordon, former member of the Marco Island Club. Ronald passed away recently after donating many years to the group.
We have not been idle during the summer. The Marco Club has collected 1,076 pairs of eyeglasses to distribute here and abroad to people who would otherwise have none at all. In addition, we are planning to begin vision and hearing screenings in October, since Collier County will no longer provide this service. Children and adults can both take advantage of this.
The Lions have been an international organization since 1917, and some of our members have been active for over 30 years. Please join us for this interesting program and contribute just a little of your time and talent to this worthy organization.
And, if interested we are always looking for new members to strengthen our club. Again call Lee Pershing at 239-293-2700.
