Mr. Gillespie will present a power point program featuring the skills and tools of the Calusa. He is a member of the Echota Cherokee tribe of Alabama and uses his art, not only as a means of self-expression, but as a means of perpeturating his ancestors’ knowledge, skills, and lifeways that today’s society has displaced and forgotten.
Not only has he participated in several Primitive Skills workshops but he also has shown his work in many areas of the country including our own Marco Island Arts Afire. Mr. Gillespie has won several awards for his work. He and his wife currently reside on Marco Island during much of the year.
