Marco Island Academy holds premiere of Us vs. Them music video

The Marco Island Academy held a premiere party for a music video which they sponsored. Mark Haffner, producer, who is overseeing the school’s multimedia curriculum, wrote the music and held auditions for bands to perform it. A young popular band from Southwest Florida, Us vs. Them, won the opportunity to record the school’s song, ‘Breakout’.

The video was the culmination of several months of shooting including red carpet footage shot and edited into the video just moments prior to the premiere.    Mark Haffner spoke to the audience, “The end result is quite different from the original plan. My son Cameron, directed creative production of the video and with his vision, we ended up with an imaginative storyline which produced an awesome video! It is his best work so far.” Cameron and Mark explained the use of a spirit stick which was dubbed the sun stick for the video. The stick appears throughout the video tying several scenes together.

Scenes of the video were shot during a beach party the Academy held earlier in the year for potential students and friends with classroom scenes taken at the Marco Island Charter Middle School. The final scenes of the crowd cheering the arrival of the band were added to the video while two members of the band entertained the crowd with some singing complimented by acoustic guitar.

Students, friends, family and faculty attended the premiere which was held at Cape Marco. The Academy held a contest for the opportunity to ride in a limousine with the band to the premiere. Winners included Mariel Sanchez, Danielle Pransky and Victoria Zelner. Peter Sevente had the opportunity to start the video rolling.   Filming inside the limo was shot by Case Colwell.

Us vs. Them is an up and coming band that is embarking on a statewide tour. A link to the video can be found by searching the following on Us Vs. Them – Break Out! Or, type the following into  your browser:
