“It’s surprising,” he said of the years that have passed since he opened his practice on Marco Island. “I’m surprised it’s been that long. I’ve just enjoyed being a part of Marco Island as it’s grown over the years.”
Madison is equally prompt when it comes to the message he’d like to impart to the many customers that have passed through the business’ doors over the years.
“Thank you for the support and for allowing me to serve you for the better part of my adult life,” he said. “That’s why we’re here.”
Full-service eye and vision care for adults and children, including complete eye exams, contact lenses, glaucoma testing, and pre-and-postoperative care, are among Madison Eye Associates’ focal points. Use of digital imaging and other state-of-theart technology and diagnostic equipment have long played a key role at the practice.
“I would think anybody who comes to see me knows how much I employ technology,” said Madison. “When I first started, technology wasn’t as developed, so it was a very basic practice. Over the years I’ve improved the technology to deliver better, more efficient quality.”
Another change since the practice opened has been its location. Marco Town Center was Madison Eye Associates’ home until Madison erected the building it now occupies in 1991. Over time, the staff has grown from Madison and an optician to Madison and eight additional full-time workers during the tourist season.
Madison earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Stetson University, before graduating the Nova Southeastern University School of Optometry, where he was a Beta Sigma Kappa honor student.
In regards to plans for new developments at the practice, he is definitely thinking in practical terms.
“The only thing in the near future will be a brand new roof on the building, thanks to (Hurricane) Irma,” said Madison.
