The community’s help is greatly needed. The Family Church Our Daily Bread Food Pantry is running low on supplies. Recently, the pantry has been forced to curtail some distribution for lack of food.
As the holidays approach the need for food increases. The Family Church Our Daily Bread Food Pantry is a vital service for those in need, many of whom face the difficult decision of being able to eat or keep a roof over their heads.
Donations are vital to the success of any charity, but for an organization like a food pantry, having a constant supply of food to distribute to people in need is key to its operation.
Not only does Our Daily Bread Food Pantry open its doors the second and fourth Saturdays of the month and serve over 135 families each time – the pantry also has appointments when needed and sponsors mobile food pantries in conjunction with the Greater Marco YMCA, as well as the US 41 corridor and Manatee Middle School. The pantry opens the doors after the Lunch with Friends events for anyone who would like to shop.
The Family Church Our Daily Bread Food Pantry provides a lot of food to our community, and now they need our help as the holidays approach. The following items are needed:
- Canned Chicken
- Canned Tuna
- Canned Fruit
- Pasta and Pasta Sauce
- Boxed macaroni and cheese
- Cooking oil
- Peanut Butter and Jelly
- All purpose flour
This year there will be a food drive collection at the Christmas Island Style event, Santa’s Arrival, on November 23 at 6 PM at the Shops of Marco. For every two cans of non-perishable food donated you will be entered in a raffle for the chance to win prizes donated by local businesses.
Donations may also be dropped off at the Family Church (1450 Winterberry Drive), or the Bargain Basket (750 Bald Eagle Drive), or the Greater Marco YMCA (101 Sandhill Street). For the holidays, a food pantry drop off point will also be located at Keep In Touch at the Shops of Marco (135 S. Barfield Drive).
