Local Author Writes Children’s Book About Naples, FL

Lisa Trebilcock, local author, mother of two and former newspaper journalist, has released a children’s book about life in Naples, FL. “N is for Naples” features clever rhymed verses and engaging illustrations to depict the many opportunities for family fun in the greater Naples area – including the beach, wildlife and area attractions.

“N is for Naples” has just been released by Mascot Books and is available at the soon-to-open Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples, Horse of a Different Color gift shop in Venetian Village, and at other local businesses and attractions. The first book signing is scheduled for Thursday, February 16, at Red Brick Pizza between 5 and 6 p.m., with part of the proceeds benefiting Sea Gate Elementary School’s PTO. Trebilcock will also be signing books on Friday, February 24, from 6 to 9 p.m., at

Horse of a Different Color.

N is for Naples” highlights local activities and adventures for each letter of the alphabet. The book follows two children as they discover the fun beyond each letter — A is for Alligator, B is for Beach, C is for Coconut. The book concludes with a checklist for children to record the adventures they’ve experienced. Illustrations were created by Cheri Nowak, based in New York City.

“I wrote the book with my own children in mind, wanting to capture all they have experienced in Naples growing up and all they would look back on,” said Trebilcock. “I’m thrilled with how the illustrations brought the pages to life. I hope children who live in Naples enjoy reading my book – along with those who visit Naples and want to bring the book and these memories home with them.”

Trebilcock has a B.A. degree in journalism from Boston’s Northeastern University. She was a journalist with the Boston Globe and New London (CT) Day newspapers, worked as a marketing manager at Naples’ Wilson Miller, Inc. and at Sasaki Associates outside of Boston. Trebilcock took a hiatus from her career to, with her husband Norman, raise two daughters. She has lived in Naples for more than 20 years and is a dedicated volunteer at Seagate Elementary School in Naples where she has logged more than 2,500 hours of service.

She is a recipient of the Collier County School District’s “Galaxy of Stars” award.
