It’s time again to ‘think outside the gallery’ and enjoy fine art in the delightfully unique historic fishing village of Goodland. Award-winning artist Tara O’Neill, a member of the Artist Colony at the Esplanade on Marco Island, will be stepping out of her own studio-gallery to host her 9th annual one-woman art exhibit at The Little Bar Restaurant. The now famous two-day reception will be held Saturday and Sunday, April 14th and 15th, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Artwork will be on view through April 21st.

Again this year, O’Neill will be donating a portion of all proceeds to the Goodland Scholarship Fund, offering educational assistance to Village students since 1990. “Artists require a great deal of support from their communities,’’ explains O’Neill, “not just when they’re starting out, but continuously. I firmly believe that I owe a lot to the unfailing encouragement I’ve received from this tiny Village over many years – I’m both proud and humbled to be

able to give back in this way.’’

Well-known locally and collected internationally, O’Neill was presented with the inaugural Arts Afire Flame Award from the City of Marco Island for individual achievement contributing to art on Marco. She will present original paintings in oil and acrylic, along with select museum-quality reproductions. This year also promises the unveiling of a new series: Skyscapes.

South Florida has been O‘Neill‘s home base for over 40 years. “Although I’m greatly affected by the cultures and landscapes I experience,” says the artist, “the soul of Florida will always be deeply imbedded in my images: our shadowed shifts of sand, sea and sky, the brilliant subtropical flora and fauna, the hard-scrabble histories and intimate village views. These are mine to share.”
