Letter to the Editor: Jared Grifoni

As many of you know I am a candidate for Marco Island City Council. The overarching theme of the campaign has been to unite Marco Island. For too long our city has been divided up, often times pitting neighbor against neighbor, for short-term political gain. I am running for City Council to represent our entire island community. I am an independent-thinker and I’ve pledged to listen to our citizens on the issues not just throughout the campaign but over the next four years.

To that end, since I have announced my campaign I have had the pleasure of meeting with many of you one-on-one to discuss the issues. It has been an amazing and enlightening experience. For all the effort the establishment puts into manufacturing division, I have found much common ground between the citizens of our community.

Starting on Friday, July 8 from 9am-10am, I will be hosting biweekly “Coffee with the Candidate” events at the Dunkin’ Donuts in Marco Town Center with complimentary coffee and donuts. It is an open, casual opportunity for the purposes of friendly discussion. Come as you are. Share a cup of coffee and a donut. This election is about the citizens of Marco Island and I want to continue to hear from you. Tell me your thoughts about the island, whether it’s about our past, present, or future. I cannot do this without you. I am greatly looking forward to seeing you all on the campaign trail but I promise you that I will not stop listening on Election Day.

If we aren’t willing to listen then we’ll never advance and become better people. I am always open to learning and evolving. We have to be able to build coalitions that bring people together to advance the best interests of our entire island of individuals. I hope to see many of you out at these events. In the meantime, please visit to learn more about my campaign.
