Letter to the Editor: From James Timmerman & Family

From the bottom of my heart, Thank you!

The intent of this letter is for both my family and I to express our sincere gratitude for all those involved in my recovery.  I will begin with a brief description of my experience.

Monday, 06 February 2012 I was admitted to the Collier Blvd. Physicians Regional Medical Center.  ER diagnosis was a streptococcus A infection in right arm, (necrotizing fasciitis), which had entered the blood stream causing blood poisoning, (sepsis), which in turn caused internal organs to shut down or suffer, including acute tubular necrosis, and pancreatitis. The admitting physician felt that I had a 10% chance of surviving the first 48 hours.  I spent 7 days in the ICU and an additional 11 days in hospital. I was discharged Friday, 24 February 2012.   I no longer require dialysis, my arm is healing and I am slowly regaining strength and energy.

The gratitude that my family and I have for all involved cannot truly be expressed in words but I will try.

From the bottom of our hearts, Thank You to all Physicians Regional Medical Center physicians, nurses and staff; to all parties involved with support by providing meals, transportation, watching the children, walking the dog, cards, prayers, positive energy, flowers, calls, random acts of kindness, etc.  The support and the people involved are too numerous to identify individually, you know who you are and how you helped!

The outpouring of support from this community was, and is, so positively reassuring and overwhelming.

I owe my life to all this support and I do not take this lightly.

This experience has changed my life in a very positive manner; my first act of reciprocity is thanking all involved.

Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
