Let’s Dance! Line Dance Lessons at Stan’s Idle Hour

Goodland Life

On Saturday, October 6th, the very talented (and patient!) Angie Moore began teaching line dancing lessons at Stan’s Idle Hour in Goodland. By day (and, not infrequently, nights and weekends), Angie is a Registered Nurse First Assistant at Physician’s Regional Medical Center in Naples. She works in the operating room assisting surgeons and has done so for over nineteen years out of her twenty-year career. Angie has always enjoyed helping people, hence the reason she became a nurse. At work, she meets patients who are sometimes scared and vulnerable when facing surgery. She does her best to reassure and comfort them. These skills easily translate to teaching line dance. Angie thrives seeing happy, healthy people enjoying life in positive ways.

A line dance is a choreographed set of moves danced to a specific song, usually performed in one or more lines. Depending on the song, the dance may be fast or slow, and danced to a waltz, rumba, cha-cha, mambo, two-step or any other dance rhythm. Some people are afraid of learning the steps, but the good news is the dance is demonstrated and then broken down by eight count and practiced slowly without the music, developing muscle memory. Finally, the group practices with the music and, like magic, the line dance comes alive! “The best part of teaching line danc-ing is meeting people and seeing their joy and excitement while dancing,” Angie explained.

When asked about the venue, Angie explained, “Steve and Trish of Stan’s Idle Hour were very receptive and supportive in providing the space for a line dance class. Stan’s is a nice outdoor location to enjoy sunny Florida with great live music and their dance floor is ideal for line danc-ing.” Angie continued, “We have line dance lessons every Saturday from 11am- noon with live music to follow from 12 PM to 4 PM, perfect for practicing the dances that we learn. In January we may add a mid-week lesson on Wednesday afternoon before the live music starts.” Addition-ally, Angie is available to teach line dance lessons in your community, clubhouse, church, private event, or party.

Angie exclaimed, “It’s been my dream to teach line dancing to others.” And she’s great at it! Everyone is welcome, and the cost is very reasonable. So… bring ten dollars and your boots to Stan’s on Saturdays at 11 AM. For more information, please contact Angie at
