One of the main goals of the Marco Island Civitan Club, when it was chartered 5 years ago, was to build a Junior Civitan Club at Lely High School. This goal was achieved!
The purpose of this service club for these students is to train them to become “Builders of Good Citizenship” in the home, school, community and nation. This club is going to help them develop initiative and leadership skills and will encourage them to live a fuller life enriched by unselfish service to others; focusing upon living by the Golden Rule in all human relationships by precept and example.
The objectives of this Junior Civitan are to promote high standards of scholarship and conduct in school. They will be serving their school, community and even nation through their volunteer work. They will be encouraged to support good government on all levels and respect for the law. By doing all of the above mentioned, they will develop leadership skills while serving the needs of the community through individual and teamwork. They will learn to be considerate of others too.
Their advisor Adam Vollrath will advise, guide and encourage them during the year with enthusiasm and work together for the success of this club. Civitas would like to thank School Principal Ellen Keegan for giving Marco Island Civitan Club the opportunity to sponsor and bring the Lely High School Junior Civitan Club to her school, Mr. Vollrath for his dedication in the formation of the club, and to Junior Civitan Club President Fatima Arevalo for asking Ms. Keegan to build a Junior Civitan Club at her school. Special thanks to club builders Bob and Nery Kircher for making it a reality and to Marco Island Civitan Club President Anthony DeLucia for his support and encouragement. Congratulations and best wishes in this new endeavor!
