LCEC Gives Marco Nature Preserve and Bird Sanctuary Funding Award

The Marco Island Nature Preserve and Bird Sanctuary (MINP) is pleased to announce that it recently received a $1,000 Environmental Funding Award from the Lee County Electric Company (LCEC). The award fund will be utilized toward construction costs associated with the future Nature Preserve pavilion.

MINP’s mission is to preserve 11.6 acres of the Nature Preserve’s natural land, protect wildlife including resident bald eagles, and to educate the public, especially children, the importance of conservation and expansion of wildlife population.

In a statement made by LCEC, “Since the program’s inception in 2013, LCEC has awarded nearly $160,000 to local organizations for a variety of initiatives focused on protecting our precious environment.”

MINP, a 501 (c) (3), non-profit, 100% volunteer organization, also presents environmental outreach programs to pre-K and kindergarten students. For additional information visit
