Knights of Columbus Enjoy a Successful Golf Tournament

San Marco Catholic Church Knights of Columbus Council 6344 presented their 46th Annual Golf Tournament on March 28 at the Island Country Club. Following last year’s cancellation due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s event proved to be a resounding success as they hosted a total of 132 golfers. A beautiful day was had as a nice breeze accompanied sunny skies. And the Island Country Club did its very best once again as the course was in beautiful condition for the event, and the support services were excellent.

Tournament sponsors for the event to benefit local charities included Tonkinson Financial, CJ’s on the Bay, Aldo and Mary Pat Palombo, Condee Cooling, and DeVoe Cadillac. They were also supported by over 52 individual hole sponsors.

Awards were numerous at the end of the day as there were 20 individual and team winners over the Best Ball Scramble event. First Place Men’s Foursome winners were Tom Lind, Moose O’Regan, Gregg Baldwin, and Bob Thebeau. Second Place Men’s Foursome was Dave McCall, Eric Bull, Mike McMahon, and Scott Glutting. First Place Mixed Foursome winners were Curt Koon, Jacquie Koon, Vip Grover, and Brian Henry. Second Place Mixed Foursome winners were Bill Rogers, Bobbie Rogers, John Minicozzi, and Charles Meyer.

Closest to the Pin winners were Jim Hornack and Joan Cardello. Longest Drive winners were Dave McCall and Roe Tamagni.

A great day on the links was followed by a fantastic, varied menu of dinner choices prepared by the ICC Chef and served outside by their excellent staff.

Proceeds from the event will be allocated by the Knights of Columbus to support local charities, student scholarships, programs for young people, Special Olympics, and other like activities. As much good as the Knights of Columbus Council has done over the past year, they are asking for your help to do even more. They invite you to join the council and help them to make a difference in the community.
