Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) is an international standard of excellence in green construction. Based on adherence to prerequisites of required elements or green-building strategies, and credits of optional elements and strategies, LEED construction projects earn points toward certification. Based on credits that are developed through rounds of public comments and the collaboration of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), projects may earn the LEED rating level of LEED Certified, LEED Silver, LEED Gold or LEED Platinum.
