For the first time during winter season, bicyclists of all shapes, sizes and riding abilities will be riding in the Tour de Marco.
The seventh annual riding of the popular bicycle tour, which benefits the Marco Y, will be held on Sunday, February 26 this year. Heavy early registrations have organizers excited about this year’s turnout.
“We’re way ahead of previous Tour de Marco events in terms of early registrations,” said tour director Steve Reynolds. “But there is no limit to how many riders we can have. There will be plenty of snacks and some really great prizes. We have more sponsors than ever. We will even have entertainment this year, with JRobert stopping by to play a couple of songs for us.”
JRobert Houghtaling, the island’s Artist of the Year, will be playing in the Y’s airnasium at the conclusion of the tour. He will play his popular song, “Life in the Bicycle Lane.” “I love doing things for the Y,” Houghtaling said.
You can sign up for Tour de Marco 7 on active.com or at the Y’s member services desk. Free giveaways, water and refreshments will be provided. Riders will enjoy 5, 15, and 30-mile rides. Registration fees are $30 for individuals and $50 for families.
