Joseph Battaglia of Marco Island, Florida, died unexpectedly in his home on June 2, 2019, at the age of 88. In the mid-sixties, Joe secured a position with Gleason Works where he was able to use his mechanical skills. He remained with Gleason Works until his retirement in 1986. Additionally, in the 1970’s, Joe became a certified NYS automobile inspector.
Joe briefly moved to Rome, Italy, following his retirement, then returned to the US in 1989 and settled on Marco Island. In 1990, he became remarried to Isobel Pascal and traveled the world extensively.
On Marco Island, Joe was active in the Knights of Columbus, and enjoyed hosting large dinner parties for friends and family.
Most of all, Joe enjoyed the camaraderie of his friends at Dunkin Donuts, impromptu visits from neighbors and friends, and visits from his son, John.
Joe will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all of those who had the opportunity to get to know him on Marco Island.
