Help continue the fight against breast cancer

The 3rd annual luncheon and fashion show benefitting the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer was held recently at Bistro Soleil at Olde Marco Inn. Spring and summer fashions were presented by Marco Island Clothing in a casual, café-style fashion show. FOX 4 news anchor Patrick Nolan provided lively commentary as he emceed the event again this year.

Lisa Mergue, owner of Bistro Soleil, spoke passionately about her commitment to the fight against breast cancer as she welcomed guests to the luncheon. “It would be nice if we didn’t have a reason to gather,” she said.

Of the eight models participating in the show, 3 are breast cancer survivors. Floral arrangements were created exclusively by breast cancer survivors and donated by the Calusa Garden Club.

Though diagnosed with the disease in 2008, Lisa Mergue’s battle is not only personal but one also to be fought on behalf of daughters, granddaughters and future generations. She remembered her first chemotherapy treatment on the day her restaurant opened its doors. Since that time, she has, with the support of daughters Alexandra and Margaux, participated in Walks Against Breast Cancer both locally and in New York City as a strong, committed survivor.
