Highly- Anticipated Openings

We’ve had some highly-anticipated openings in the theme park world, especially the grand opening of Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure at Universal Orlando. Let’s take a look at everything new and fun!

Walt Disney World

With Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge being the next big opening on the horizon for Walt Disney World this August, the park has increased the price of annual passes across the board. Although annual price increases aren’t unusual, these are larger than most have been in the past. There were increases to both the Florida resident and non-Florida resident prices, as high as 12 percent.

Walt Disney World also announced that they will be hosting previews of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for Platinum, Platinum Plus and Premier Passholders. Capacity will be limited with these previews and admission will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. More info on this offering will be shared at a later date.

Yeti: Terror of the Yukon

This holiday season, “Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks,” an all-new fireworks spectacular, will light up the skies above Magic Kingdom during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Hosted by Minnie Mouse herself, this new show will celebrate the holidays with medleys of Christmas songs like “Joy to the World,” “Deck the Halls,” “Up on the House Top,” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”

An infamous (and fashionable) Disney villain will get her own special experience at this year’s Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, titled Cruella’s Halloween Hide-a-Way! Held at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant, this dining experience will offer fun entertainment, light bites and treats, and reserved viewing of Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade.

A brand-new experience inspired by Disney’s history of wildlife animation will join in the reopening of Rafiki’s Planet Watch, titled “The Animation Experience.” Guests will learn how to draw characters from “The Lion King,” including Simba, Zazu, Timon, Pumbaa and more. The experience will debut when Rafiki’s Planet Watch reopens on July 11.

A new water park pass was announced this month, offering unlimited visits to Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon for Annual Passholders. Called the Summer Splash Pass, this new offering will be available starting July 5 for $69and is valid for visits anytime from July 5 – September 7.

Universal Orlando Resort

The newest attraction in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, is now officially open to guests! This new adventure takes guests and Muggles alike deep into the Forbidden Forest aboard their own motorcycles and sidecars – encountering all sorts of magical creatures.

Another yeti is making an appearance at Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights with the reveal of “Yeti: Terror of the Yukon,” a new, original haunted house for this year’s event. Guests will travel down a trail of blood leading to a labyrinth of caves that no one has lived to see. Once you’re in yeti country, if the cold doesn’t get you, they will.

For the honor of Grayskull! A new character can now be found roaming through the Lost Continent area of Universal’s Islands of Adventure: She-Ra! Guests can now meet this mystical warrior princess daily in the area outside of the Poseidon’s Fury attraction and Mythos Restaurant.

SeaWorld Orlando

SeaWorld Orlando has announced a “cool” new roller coaster for 2020, along with a few clues on what its theme could be. Our guess is that it could be related to a predatory bird that lives among the ice and snow. Rumors state that it will be a launch coaster and will be located behind Mango Joe’s restaurant.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay

This summer, guests can not only take on Tigris new roller coaster at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, but also enjoy new animal encounters with rhinos and sloths. Reservations are now available for the two new programs that will take guests behind the scenes and let them spend time with these animals.

Central Florida’s newest water park, Island H2O Live!, opened its doors this month at Margaritaville Resort Orlando. Inspired by the iconic parts of social media, Island H2O Live! combines an interactive guest experience with the classic water park offerings guests know and love.
