High School Scholarship Show at Center for the Arts

The Marco Island Center for the Arts will be exhibiting the work of Collier County High School junior and senior aspiring artists from April 23 through 27, 2018, from 9 AM – 4 PM during its long running scholarship show. The reception is on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 5:45 to 7 PM. The award ceremony will take place promptly at 6 PM.

This scholarship program was established in 1983. Since then, over $200,000 has been given to eligible students. Funding for the program comes from private donations and/or sponsors and gives students an opportunity to exhibit their work and compete for awards. Scholarship money is given to the winning seniors and a $250 check each are given to the junior merit winners. Honorable Mention winners receive gift cards.

Judging will be based on an individual art piece for its quality, technique and originality. The judges are professional artists Sandy Moore Howe, Emily James, and Tara O’Neill.

  • Anonymous Award – 2nd Place Scholarship – $750
  • Marco Island Area Chamber of Commerce Award – 3rd Place Scholarship – $500

In 2017, the Second Place Scholarship was given to Erika Acevedo for her work, “Wandering About.”





The 2017 Third Place Scholarship was given to Taylor Carson for his work entitled, “Wave.”
