Greater Marco Family YMCA “Families Are Stronger Together” National Family Week- November 21-27

The Greater Marco Family YMCA will join the Alliance for Children and Families in celebrating families during National Family Week, November 21-27. As National Family Week approaches, the Y reminds families of the importance of spending time together. When families do things like preparing meals or playing a game, they learn from each other and their relationships become stronger. “The Greater Marco Family YMCA is dedicated to helping children and families become more healthy, connected and secure” said Cindy Love, CEO of the Greater Marco Family YMCA. “During National Family Week, we’re encouraging everyone to focus on their family relationships either at home or at the YMCA”.

National Family Week focuses on the idea that children live better lives when their families are strong, and families are strong when they live in communities that connect them to social networks and social services. Every day the Greater Marco Family YMCA works with the areas schools and business leaders to create lasting personal change in the lives of families and entire communities.

On Friday, November 25, all families in the community are invited to participate in “Free Family Day” at the Greater Marco Family YMCA. The Y opens at 5:00 a.m. and will remain open to 8:00 p.m.  Families are encouraged to come to the Y and enjoy the programs and facilities the Y offers. Swim in the pool, play tennis, enjoy group exercise classes like Cardio Blast, Aqua Fit, Yoga Flow and DRUMS!  “Family Fun Fitness Hour” with Health and Fitness Coordinator Jennifer Bristow is scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Y Gymnasium. Mom, Dad and the kids will be able to enjoy an hour of fun fitness games and work off the holiday dinner! The Fitness center is open to Families with children over 14 years of age and Indoor Group Cycling is a $10 fee to all participants. Parents, please do not drop off your children, remember, this is a Family Activity Day Pass!

Throughout the year, the Greater Marco Family YMCA hosts a variety of events for families to learn and grow and spend time together, including Healthy Kids Day, Fall Fun Fair, Taste of Marco, Community Day, and Dottie’s Duck Derby.

Families are also encouraged to celebrate National Family Week at home with a special dinner, game night, family project or designing some uninterrupted time together.
