Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida, which serves 6,500 girls across ten counties, recently received a $20,000 grant from Publix Supermarkets Charities.
“We regard Publix as one of our key partners,” said Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida’s CEO, Sue Stewart. “For a number of years, they have provided us with thousands of much-needed grant dollars, which helps us to keep program fees low and provide program scholarships to those who otherwise couldn’t afford to participate.”
Girl Scout troops also count on Publix during the annual Girl Scout Cookie Program to provide convenient sales locations throughout the region. In addition to raising funds for troop activities and community service projects, girls learn and develop valuable business skills, communication skills, and self-confidence through cookie sales. “In this way, Publix not only provides funding, but a means for girls to learn the value of hard work,” Stewart added.
