When saying “Marco’s own,” it could not be truer than when discussing the entertaining trio known as Florida Straits. They played to a full house on Friday night in the courtyard at The Boardroom Tavern in Olde Marco village. A “can’t miss” combination of entertaining southern rock-country music, a beautiful evening outdoors and three of Marco Island’s (own) favorite residents: Tony Smith, Josh Ferris and Chris Bowden.
The trio’s musical talents came together a while back during jam sessions. Josh Ferris, a Marco Island Police officer and Chris Bowden, a paramedic with the Marco Island Fire/Rescue, along with Tony Smith, who ran Tigertail Beach concessions for decades, these guys are used to working very hard, for very long hours and music was a way for them to relax and have some fun.
Tony Smith wears many hats with new endeavors, the Smith House Restaurant, The Boardroom Tavern and AJ Smith Art.
No matter what they do during their day jobs, these three have become VERY popular among music lovers. Not only did they play to a full house, but the audience stood all along the balcony upstairs!
